August 2018

Dear friends and fans of well secured bicycles,

the bicycle community is living interesting times. Berlin has passed its first mobility law which will hopefully change the cities infrastruktur significantly in favor of cyclists and public transport users. And then this summer! Even we cyclists are greateful for the the first rain drops.

But do not forget: a good summer for cyclists is also a good summer for bicycle thievery. It seems that a quarter of all bicycle thefts take place in june and july and the numbers are rising every year. This counts also for the robbery of single parts, which all the bicycle wrecks lying around in the cities. Wheels, saddles, lamps... everything goes!
We have a few tipps on how to prevent your parts from theft:

The Pitlocks for the wheels are well known, but what about the illumination on your bike?
Modern lamps on modern E-bikes usually make a good percentage out of the total price of the bike. With the fitting Pitlock Set you can easily secure those pieces and keep them safe and tight on your bike.

Those parts on your bike, that are not fixed with axles or big screws, like steering bars, saddles, special lamps or brakes are often tightened with regular small allen screws. Unfortunately allen keys are the main ingredient to any bike thieves instrument box.
To make the thieves' keys useless use our Pit-Stoppers. These are an easy to use and less cost-intensive instrument to block all the allen screws on your bike.
See here ashort glimpse about how they work.
ALso there are news regarding thru axles again. Many of you already know about our thru axles for rear wheels with Maxle mounts.
Responding to the high demand and many inquiries, Pitlock now offers a new thru axle for E-Thru mounts. This means an axle with an M12 x 1.5 thread. It is available for standard- and "boost"-installation widhts (142 mm und 148 mm).
Thats it for now. Happy cycling into the autumn!
your Pitlock Team
