Pitstopper, securing hex socket screws

There is a fundamental challenge with all Pitlock products: they work silently. Prevented thefts cannot be counted, and that is precisely their purpose. The parts that stand out the least are the Pitstopper.

These small security inserts reliably block hex socket (Allen) screws. Once installed, the screw heads can no longer be reached with standard tools. A Pitstopper can only be removed with the special release screw included in every set.

Why secure Allen screws

Hex socket screws are practical, but they are also a popular target. On a bicycle they hold critical parts: stem, seat post, brakes, add-on parts. Anyone carrying an Allen key can loosen or remove something within seconds. Pitstopper prevent exactly that. The screw stays in place, and your accessories remain on the bike.

Typical use cases on a bicycle

  • Secure the stem: connection between handlebar and fork
  • Secure the seat post: prevents quick removal or adjustment
  • Secure the brakes: extra safety for mounting points
  • Secure accessories: such as bottle cages, racks or fenders

Sizes and compatibility

Pitstopper are available in several sizes, so you can find the right fit for common hex socket screws.

Thread Hex size (SW)
M5 4 mm
M6 5 mm
M8 6 mm
M10 8 mm

SW stands for the hex size inside the screw head. What matters is the hex size and enough depth for the Pitstopper. If in doubt, measure the hex socket in the screw head or ask your dealer.

Beyond bicycles

One of our industrial customers even uses Pitstopper to secure the fence of their company premises. Wherever hex socket screws are used, these inserts provide discrete and reliable protection.

Main features at a glance

  • Easy to install: insert the Pitstopper and fix it with a few hammer taps
  • Visibly invisible: blends in, hardly noticeable on bikes or fences
  • Durable: made of stainless steel, weatherproof and long lasting
  • Can only be removed with the special tool: the included release screw makes the difference
